The nitty gritty details.

As a dog walker, pet caretaker and Wrangler - the service I provide and how I determine my rate is dependent on several factors. Here are some considerations:

  • Duration: Consider how long I will be responsible for and with your loved one.

  • Responsibilities: What is included in our time together: feeding, walking, jogging and ensuring their comfort. As a professional pet attendant I take my role seriously.

  • Number of Dogs: Each additional dog adds complexity and requires more attention.

  • Location: Rates can vary based on the location. This includes the environment we will be in together - will it be a quiet neighborhood stroll or a brisk walk through downtown with distractions and a crowd? Urban areas versus rural ones.

  • Experience: I have been working with animals all of my life and professionally for the past 5 years.

  • Special Requests: Each dog and pet is different, I factor in personalities, interests, quirks, characteristics, past training, temperaments and traits of all pets I get to work with. I think animals can be complex in their natures, and always take into account their wellbeing.

  • Safety and Supervision: I will use appropriate leashes and harnesses to ensure dogs’ safety during walks. I supervise them to prevent unsafe behaviors and will always be alert to potential hazards.

  • Basic Training Reinforcement: I support basic training commands during walks. I can also reinforce leash manners, responsiveness to commands, and socialization with other dogs and people if requested.

  • Health Monitoring: I will observe and report any changes in behavior, health, or habits to owners.

  • Communication with Owners: I like to maintain clear communication with pet owners. This means I provide regular updates on activities, behavior, and any concerns that arise during walks or time together. I also love to send pictures via text message after our time is over.

  • Reliability: Patience, punctuality, and trustworthiness are included in hiring Dust + Salt for your K9 companion.

Remember, being a dog walker involves more than just walking dogs, it’s about ensuring their safety, health, and well-being while providing love and care.
